Andrew Boss will write a new work dedicated to the life and contributions of beloved wind conductor, Dr. Bobby Adams.
A retired professor of Music Education, and former coordinator of Instrumental Music and director of Bands at Stetson University since 1987, Dr. Adams helped to build Stetson’s instrumental program within the School of Music to become the fine and prestigious school it is today. He passed away on Thursday, May 28, at the age of 75.
This new work will feature the full scope of the wind ensemble using a variety of musical styles, techniques, and colors. It will merge my personal style with themes and passages of several of Dr. Adams’ favorite composers, including Wagner, Strauss, and Mahler. Its world premiere is expected Fall 2019 by the Stetson University Symphonic Band under Douglas Phillips.
